Pennyroyal oil is toxic

Pennyroyal has a very bad reputation, because pennyroyal oil was used to terminate pregnancies and there are several deaths reported. Pennyroyal oil is very toxic, damages the liver, kidney and other organs. Although the deaths are associated with the oil of pennyroyal, it is not entirely clear weather or not the pennyroyal herb is safe to use internally.

Pennyroyal to keep repel insects and rodents:

Pennyroyal is one of the best insect repellent plants. Planted around dog kennel it keeps fleas away.  Pennyroyal is an excellent plant to repeal mosquitoes, fleas, ants, moths, and rodents!

The strong peppermint and camphor scent of pennyroyal is stronger and far more pungent than other mints, which makes it disagreeable to many people.

Pennyroyal in the Garden:

Very easy to grow in any soil sun or shade, prefers moist areas. Pennyroyal has a low spreading habit and can be used as a ground cover; it takeslight foot traffic.
