Kushen, Sophora flavescens

This is a plant of cooler regions, but so far kushen grows well in the Port Stephens area. Kushen is a member of the pea family and likes sandy conditions in full sun, although I grow it in half shade at the moment. Kushen likes well-drained soil.

Kushen is a very powerful herb in Chinese medicine and its uses were associated with cancer, blood pressure, heart health diabetes and more.
