Rue is a very decorative perennial foliage plant with dainty greyish leaves. Rue has a very long history in herbalism and was used for cancer, indigestion, insect repellent, birth control and more. Rue can be toxic in higher doses, especially if fresh and not dried herb is used.
Rue can also be used in vaporisers, fumigants, incense sticks and burners to deter insects like mosquitoes, cockroaches and flies. Rue can also be used in flower bouquets.
Rue might cause rashes and blisters insensitive people. Rue also causes uterine contractions, the herb should never be taken in pregnancy!
Sun to part shade, likes lime.
Rue herb is hardy in most of Australia, maybe not suitable for the tropical North.
