Heavenly perfumed clary sage was an esteemed medicinal plant used to treat eye infections, kidney stones, insomnia, is a tonic, calming and oestrogen-stimulating. The leaves can be used as a flavouring or in tea.

The spikes of pinkish-white flowers look best with some smaller plants in the front.

Clary sage is a short lived perennial/biennial which often self- sows.

It is a very delightful plant, but it is not as happy in our warm coastal climate, while it was thriving in the cool mountians. Otherwise, clary sage likes a sunny position and well-drained average soil.
