Vetiver Grass, Vetiveria zizanioides, Plant for Permaculture and Perfume

About This Plant

I believe that my plants are the monto variety, because they never set seeds and seem to be sterile.

Vetiver is a permaculture plant with the added benefit of perfumery and healing properties of the roots.

Vetiver is a fast growing plant with a massive root system used against erosion. I will trial it in our heavy clay soil, I assume it might help to loosen up the clay.

The roots were traditionally used for nervous conditions, circulation problems, rheumatism and more and of course it makes a nice perfume!

Vetiver is cold and drought hardy.

This vetiver variety “monto” does not produce viable seeds and is not invasive.
