Description
This groundcover is so easy to root that it is supplied as unrooted cuttings. Simply stick the supplied cuttings in your preferred medium, i.e. sharp san,d and keep moist. Some people even root sweet potatoes in a jar of water!
Another pretty perennial edible groundcover, this sweet potato was bred for the purple leaves and does not produce good-sized tubers. However, the leaves are edible and a spinach substitute. It looks great and fills the space under trees. Sweet potato ‘purple raven’ is easy to grow and happy i sun or part-shade. It’s probably not drought-hardy.
Sweet potatoes are not frost-hardy, you could maybe take cuttings in autumn and overwinter them in a jar of water for next spring.
All sweet potatoes are eaten by kangaroos.
