About This Plant

This is the sweet potato you find in the shops: over 90% of the sweet potatoes grown in Australia are of the ‘gold’ variety also known as ‘Beauregard’. They have a rose gold smooth skin, which makes it easy in the kitchen to turn them into fries, mash, baked dishes and more. The leaves can be turned into mouth watering stir-fries.

Sweet potatoes are a quick growing groundcover. and thrive in sun to part shade. They look much nicer than regular potatoes and deserve to be in the front garden. Unfortunately, they dislike frost, but you can try to overwinter slips in a jar of water.
