Strawberry Guava is a slow to moderate-growing evergreen fruit tree from Brazil, with sweet, aromatic berries. These taste different to other guavas because they have some acidity and tartness. The fruit tastes nice out of hand and is suitable for jams, preserves and wines.
It is suitable for tropical, subtropical, warm temperate, and dry climates. It is compact and ornamental.
Note: Fruit ripens gradually; harvesting regularly ensures best flavour.
Strawberry Guava is moderately susceptible to Queensland fruit fly. Simple protective measures such as fruit bagging, traps, and garden hygiene can help ensure clean, healthy fruit.
Typically 2–4 years from planting before the first harvest.
Height: 2–4 m (6–13 ft)
Width / Spread: 2–4 m (6–13 ft)
Can be pruned to remain smaller for pots, patios, or hedges.
Yield: Moderate to high per mature tree, producing abundant fruit when well cared for.
Prefers fertile, well-draining soil; tolerates a range of soil types but dislikes waterlogged conditions.
Best in full sun for optimal fruiting; tolerates light shade.
Likes consistent moisture when establishing. Moderately drought-tolerant once mature.
Suitable for large containers; ensure good drainage and fertilize regularly for fruiting success.
Thrives in tropical, subtropical, warm temperate, and dry climates. Young plants may need frost protection; mature trees tolerate light frost.
