Brahmi is a very useful, easy to grow herb for memory and brain function. It is a semi-aquatic herb and is happy on the edge of a pond, or in any container which holds water. Brahmi is also a very decorative plant for indoors.
The plant will either be supplied in a 40 mm pot or bare-rooted!
Brahmi likes wet feet and likes to grow in permanent moist areas. Otherwise it’s better to grow brahmi in a pot with a flooded saucer or any vessel which holds water. Brahmi is NOT an aquatic plant however.
Brahmi is absolutely frost sensitive but easy to overwinter inside. It is a good plant for the apartment-gardener.
In traditional Indian medicine brahmi is used for many ailments, however most people use the herb for brain function, memory, learning, anxiety, clarity. It is used for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s in the elderly. The herb is mainly used fresh or as tea.
Brahmi herb is sometimes confused with gotu kola. Brahmi is Bacopa monierii and Gotu kola is Centella asiatica.
