An ornamental and medicinal plant which looks especially nice in a hanging basket. The basket plant can also be grown indoors.

Callisia has a rich folkloric history, especially in Eastern Europe (which is noteworthy as Eastern Europe is not the right climate!). Callisia was used as an antimicrobial and anti-fungal remedy, to improve digestion, increase circulation, and  respiratory health. Callisia is also anti-inflammatory.

Evergreen herbaceous plant which does not withstand frost and dislikes cold temperature.

Prefers fertile, moist soils in a protected, partially shaded area.

Other names: False bromeliad, inch plant, octopus plant, trailing willow, and false spiderwort.
