Vervain is an old fashioned herb that was once used in times of Celts, Romans and in the Middle Ages for all kinds of health complaints and for magic and rituals. In modern times, however, it has been nearly forgotten. It is a pitty, because this herb naturally grows in many parts of the temperate zone across the world and is easy to grow. Vervain is a perennial herbaceous plant. Harvest the top half of the plant just before flowering and dry it for later use. Vervain’s main use is for nerve support – depression, stress, nervous tension and exhaustion. It also protects your liver. Common dose is 2 to 3 cups of tea a day (3 – 6 g of dry herb).
